Osidi Inspects FMBN-Funded Housing Projects in Nasarawa, Restates Commitment to Affordable Homes for Workers

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Shehu Usman Osidi, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, led a team of staff from the Bank’s Head Office and Nasarawa Branch Office on an inspection tour of ongoing and completed FMBN-funded housing projects in and around Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The first project visited was the FMBN Affordable Housing Workers’ Scheme, an initiative expected to deliver about 4,000 housing units across Nasarawa State, with plans for replication in other states of the federation.
Speaking during the inspection, Osidi expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the Lafia project site, where 100 housing units are being delivered in two phases of 50 units each of one, two and three bedrooms.
He explained that the houses would be packaged for interested workers who are contributors under the National Housing Fund (NHF) Scheme to enable them achieve their homeownership aspirations with ease.
According to him, the project aligns with the Bank’s mandate of expanding access to safe, decent and affordable housing for Nigerian workers and low- to middle-income earners.
Also speaking, the Project Developer and Managing Director, Decor Associates Ltd, Arc. Munir Muhammad Junaid, said the project would generate significant employment opportunities across various segments of the housing value chain for residents of the host community and surrounding areas. The Developer further assured of speedy and quality delivery of the project.
The inspection team visited two other estates, including the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Staff Multipurpose Cooperative
Society Estate, Lafia which was previously abandoned but is now being revived through deliberate interventions by the current Executive Management led by Osidi.
During the visit, the Chief Executive reaffirmed FMBN's support towards the completion of the 60-unit housing project for subsequent packaging and off-take by the Cooperative members.
The last stop on the tour was the Bes-Belmon FMBN\NLC\TUC\NECA Housing
Estate, Kwandere, where 100 housing units were developed for workers. However, prevailing economic realities had slowed the pace of off-take.
Osidi interacted with some visibly excited beneficiaries already occupying their homes and pledged the Bank’s support towards rehabilitating some vandalised infrastructure within the estate. He also assured that efforts were being made towards a downward review of the off-take prices to make the houses more accessible to low- and middle-income workers.
The MD/CE expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians through the provision of affordable housing across the country.
He was accompanied on the inspection by the Special Assistant to the MD/CE, Mr. Kareem Ajibola Ibrahim, the Unit Head, Public Affairs and Events Management, Mr. Joe Abuku, the Lafia Branch Manager, Mrs. Hilda Odiachi and other staff.
