The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has expressed willingness to deepen collaboration with the Borno State Government towards providing its citizens decent, quality, and affordable housing.

The MD/CE, FMBN Mr. Madu Hamman, stated this recently when he hosted the Borno State Executive Governor, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Zulum, and members of his entourage at the Bank’s head office in Abuja.

Mr. Hamman said the FMBN exists to provide affordable housing to Nigerians who contribute to the National Housing Fund (NHF) Scheme, and the new Management is committed to advancing the collaboration with the Borno State Government

“Where the last management left, we will take over from there and continue the engagement towards actualizing your Excellency’s desire to provide affordable houses for the citizens and workers of Borno state,” he said.

The Borno State Governor said the state has over 1,200 housing units built for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been resettled back to their homes.

He said the state aims to collaborate with FMBN to enable Borno civil servants, who contribute to the NHF scheme, to conveniently own the housing units, which are now unoccupied due to the IDPs resettlement.

“Right now, we have close to 1,200 houses, and we want to see how we can collaborate with FMBN towards empowering our civil servants to own these houses,” he said.

Additionally, Prof. Zulum said the State Government is ready to provide free land to FMBN to build quality, decent and affordable housing as part of efforts to enhance access to homeownership for its citizens.
