The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) on Friday, October 9, 2026, celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage as part of activities marking the closing ceremony of its 2026 Customer Service Week, showcasing the country’s diversity and reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to expanding access to housing finance for Nigerians across all backgrounds.
The event featured colourful traditional attires, rich indigenous cuisines and captivating cultural dances representing the six geopolitical zones, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride and appreciation for Nigeria’s diverse traditions.
The Executive Director, Loans and Mortgage Services, Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdu, graced the occasion and toured the booths representing the six geopolitical zones, where he inspected the variety of traditional dishes on display, reflecting Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage.
Declaring the event open on behalf of the Executive Management, the Group Head, Human Resources Management, Mrs. Timan Elayo, encouraged the staff to enjoy the occasion to the fullest and embrace the opportunity to celebrate their cultural identities while strengthening the bonds of unity within the Bank.
In his remarks during the event, the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Joe Abuku, highlighted the connection between Nigeria’s cultural diversity and FMBN’s national mandate, noting that the Bank serves customers from different backgrounds across the country.
“A home is not just a place where people live; it is a place where culture is upheld, where diversity and tradition thrive. We believe that irrespective of where people are, every Nigerian deserves a home,” he said.
He explained that dedicating a full week to customers underscored the importance the Bank attaches to their needs and its commitment to delivering quality service.
“Going the extra mile for us means that we are happy to do whatever it takes to meet our customers at their point of need,” he said, adding that the Bank remains committed to understanding customers’ challenges and providing effective housing finance solutions within its operational guidelines.
The Group Head also urged Nigerians in the public and private sectors, self-employed persons in the informal sector and Nigerians in the diaspora to register under the National Housing Fund (NHF) Scheme, contribute consistently and take advantage of FMBN’s products to buy, build or renovate their homes.
He further expressed appreciation to the Bank’s Management for its support towards the successful celebration of the 2026 Customer Service Week.
The celebration reflected the Bank’s theme for the week, “One Customer, One Home – Service with Empathy, Speed and Integrity,” reinforcing the message that excellent customer service requires understanding people, respecting their differences and responding to their housing needs.
As the week-long celebration drew to a close, FMBN reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusion, strengthening customer relationships and expanding access to housing finance, in pursuit of its mandate to support homeownership across Nigeria.
